International Credentialing Associates (ICA), Inc., is an independent, non-governmental professional
organization. We provide educational credential evaluation reports to government agencies, immigration
attorneys, academic institutions, associations, and corporations for individuals who have completed all, or part,
of their education outside the United States.
Founded in August 1983, ICA has provided educational credentials evaluation services for the following agencies
and institutions: the U.S. Department of Justice, Immigration and Naturalization Service (now U.S. Citizenship
and Immigration Services/USCIS); American Physical Therapy Association (APTA); or the American Registry
of Midwives (NARM); State Licensing Boards (cosmetology, dentistry and dental hygiene, geology, midwifery,
naturopathy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and veterinary medicine), public and private secondary
schools, colleges and universities. ICA is included on evaluation service Iists distributed by national associations,
state licensing boards, and college and university admissions offices.
ICA maintains a current reference library and resource materials, conducts research into foreign educational
systems, and maintains on-going professional contact with educational and consular officers, foreign academic
institutions, and licensing authorities around the world.
ICA requires primary source verification for academic documents and verification of registration/licensing for
all individuals applying for credentials evaluation who are being considered for professional licensure in the
United States. Primary source verification was implemented for document submission in health professions in
August 1993 and subsequently adopted for all professions and occupations requiring licensure including geology
and cosmetology.
ICA evaluations reference the EDGE Database, a copyrighted and proprietary database of the American
Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO) and the World Higher Education
Database of the International Association of Universities.
